A Three-Day Wedding Timeline That Actually Works

Planning · Veddzy Journal

Most wedding timelines are built forward from the first function, which is exactly backwards. The one fixed, non-negotiable point in a three-day wedding is the muhurat — everything else should be scheduled around it, working backward.

Start with the muhurat time, then work back through the wedding-day getting-ready block: add at least three hours for bridal makeup and draping alone, not the ninety minutes most people assume. Add another thirty minutes of pure buffer, because it is never exactly ninety minutes.

For the mehndi and sangeet days, build in a full hour of slack after every scheduled block. Family photos alone routinely run forty minutes over whatever time is allotted, and that overrun compounds across a three-day event if you don't plan for it upfront.

The single biggest timeline killer is travel between venues. If your functions are in different locations, add real transit time — including for the 40-person group that will inevitably wait for one missing relative before the cars can leave.
